I'm guessing that this is a Common Tiger Beetle, a.k.a. Cicindela sp. You might find the species if you look though all the images here:
Some Cicindela purpurea look fairly similar to your photo.

I have just started seeing them here for 2019 also. postings and photos to follow. Funny thing, butterflies seem to have a territory. I keep seeing butterflies return to the same location and fly away each time i pass by.
