Didi is a Chinese transportation company, with Chinese companies and headquartered in Beijing. It provides rental vehicles and taxis through applications and smartphones.
Created by the merger of rival companies Didi Dache and Kuaidi Dache, backed by two Chinese internet giants, Tencent and Alibaba, respectively, it is valued at $26 billion (June 2016).
Services
[change | change source]Didi is a ride-hailing app where licensed taxis or cars can be hired to provide a service via mobile, smartphone, or multimedia applications.
It is similar to other apps such as Grab or Uber. As of May 2015, Didi had 1.35 million drivers operating in 360 Chinese cities, with 4 million daily rides. Its competitor, Uber, had just over one million daily rides.
Didi Food
[change | change source]In April 2017, it was announced that Didi would launch a pilot food delivery service in China, noting that it would progressively expand its served cities.
