I was able to login now, thanks! I think we can proceed with keeping "mbinder" and cleaning up "maxbinderWMF". I appreciate your patience. :)

Thanks for the help. So I reset via email, and still can't log in with mbinder. I double checked the password I created is what's entered. I also tried to log in first with what I think the password would be (because I would use that to do the Phab batch edit work). After waiting a few minutes and trying again, I saw this:

hmm, well, I do use the other one for Phabricator batch edit silencing, though I don't know that that would always have to be done under an official account. I'd probably prefer to keep one account for now. In that case, is there a way to delete the one for this request, and I can try to recover login info for the other?
I am not! That other account was set up on my behalf, I think, as part of another small issue wherein I needed SSH to a specific thing but not much else, so I wasn't sure if I should or how to use it in this context. Should I instead do a password reset of that existing username? I'm not attached to the new one, and would be more concerned about breaking anything with the old one.

@OWresch-WMF fair enough! I wonder if it might be easiest to start with task count. E.g., "how many tasks were committed to and not finished?" Then simply reduce the next sprint by that many. There will be nuance in size and effort (which is presumably why the team is using story points), but it will still be useful and you can see how it feels and expand from there. :)

Hi! @Aklapper , I assume you tagged me in here because you're interested in perspective on using Story Points. Let me know if not. :)

This makes a lot of sense to me! I think it would also encourage breaking tasks into smaller pieces (for instance, in such cases where work takes longer than 6 months). Would the simplest thing be a Herald rule that changes open, in-progress tasks older than 6 months? Or, alternatively, open, in-progress tasks that haven't been touched at all? The latter can be tricky because "touched" can be a lot of things.

I was likely just the messenger at the time! I don't have any context for the project's relevance now. Given that everything in the backlog of WikiProject-tools has another home, and there are only 5 things tagged to it, I think it's safe to archive.

Ah, you know what? I think it did, in fact, work. I just didn't realize that I needed to enter it twice, and assumed that the re-prompt was a failure and closed the terminal without trying again. Then, it occurred to me I might have typed it wrong (since it's invisible), re-opened the terminal to try again, and even though I was careful to type it right I still thought the re-prompt meant failure. Probably could have saved a lot of trouble just trying it twice in the same window!
Hmm, I'm pretty sure I never had to enter a passphrase for each login in the past, but I might be mistaken. Also, when I was prompted the first time for a passphrase, I tried the same one on a whim, and it didn't work. That doesn't mean this is wrong! But it's curious that it wasn't accepted at that stage (if it was I never would have asked for support).
I can successfully log on to phab1004.eqiad.wmnet as well. What was the issue?
Ah, I think I might know the problem: my public key file specifies the name of a computer that preceded my current one. I was pretty sure I had logged in on the new machine, but I can't find a record of that, so it's possible I need to generate a new key pair.
The correct combination is phab1004.eqiad.wmnet with bast1003.wikimedia.org.
Thanks, both. I tried to ssh into phab1004.eqiad.wmnet with bast1003.wikimedia.org in the config file, and got the same issue.

Ah, I think you meant https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/transactions/editengine/maniphest.task/edit/54/ vs https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/54/ (the "edit" in the URL is in both so I was confused).
Useful, thanks! I'm curious about the distinction between an "edit" form and a "create" form. Do you have a URL example of the latter?

@cjming just saw this task and related spike, and wondered if you were aware of tasks with the Type "Deadline"? Here's the form for that: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/54/

I can report today that while the site is still slower than I'd expect, there was a marked improvement. OK to close this for now and re-open, as needed (or as I can replicate better).

Jul 20 2022
@MaryMunyoki Hi! Just want to make sure you're aware of this. Please let me know if you have questions. :)
Jun 30 2022
@Aklapper Thanks for the reminder! We do have mechanisms for updating elapsed Due Dates but neglected this one.
Jun 29 2022
Ah, OK, great, thanks for the clarification. I'll keep an eye out.
Thanks, @matmarex . If I'm understanding correctly, restoring the original functionality is not possible due to Phab's new model for attachments. If that's the case, while documenting how-to is important, I think it's more important for the Phab UI to give instructions. The issue I'm hearing from folks is not that they don't know how to fix the issue, but that they forget (or, in the case of bug reporters, don't realize), because it's not intuitive.
Jun 22 2022
Thanks, @brennen ! I know you folks have a lot going on and really appreciate your attention on this. :)

@Aklapper Here we go: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T310188
Jun 7 2022
@Aklapper Thanks for the reminder about the Due Date. For some reason, this task does not show the Due Date stamp on the board view, so it's often overlooked. If that's causing problems, we could probably just clear that field. We think it might be a bug related to the form (perhaps being changed midway?) but we're not sure. See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T279593#7672410
Jun 3 2022
In the meantime, I wonder how hard it would be to replace our Phab instance functionality with this one. Standard caveats apply, of course (it's probably not as easy as I think, and there might be more than the zero people I see using the existing functionality). Having said that, my ignorant observation is that we could swap which number in the column is targeted (from points to count). I imagine a small UI tweak would be needed, too, so that the visual is on the right numbers.

I filed a task for improving the UX in the current setup (regardless of what we decide): T302525: When a project is not public, it appears to users outside "Visible To" criteria as "Unknown Object", which is confusing
I also re-read your comment and realize that you already showed which task you screenshotted in T302441: Create a Wiki page describing the virtual bonfire - somewhere, so apologies for missing that and asking about it. It also helps me understand the problem a little more, which seems to be that the projects are private. I appreciate your patience as I digest. :)
