FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK
July 4th, 2025 6PM – 9PM
In 2020, BCAC reimagined the First Friday Art Walk, originally established in the early 2000s by a creative trio of women. The Art Walk filled downtown Binghamton with a litany of art exhibitions, creative happenings, and dining experiences on the First Friday of every month. Almost 20 years later, First Friday continues to platform local artists, gallery owners, and musicians with the generous support of Broome County Government and City of Binghamton.
Please check this page for information on participating locations. Some galleries have different open times – check below for more details.
With flu season upon us, it’s recommended to wear a mask or stay home if you’re experiencing flu symptoms.

To All Those Struggling
Photography by Alex Work
From the artist: I’ve never really approached photography with a clear plan or specific intention. Looking through my photos, I realized that the subjects of my photography, which I was drawn to in particular, are often going through something. They look tired, lost, or quietly in pain. And I think that’s because I see parts of myself in them.
For a long time, I’ve struggled with my mental health, feeling out of place, weighed down, and unsure of where I belong. But even in my darkest moments, what kept me grounded were the people around me. People are complex, messy, beautiful beings, each with their own hardships and daily struggles. That quiet resilience is what makes them my favorite subjects to photograph.
Recently, my best friend has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which could leave her paralyzed. She lives in Mexico, where she has no real access to health care or even an actual mattress to sleep on. I’ve felt completely helpless. I don’t ever want there to be a day that I wake up and she just disappears. My life is just better with her in it. All the money from these photos is going directly to her. So she can sleep in a bed without fear of getting attacked by scorpions, so she can not starve herself for weeks on end just to pay for medication. So that I can help her in any small way I can.
This show is dedicated To All Those Struggling. Wherever you are, whoever you are, know that someone out there cares. Even if it’s just the quiet compassion of a stranger or the fleeting warmth of a moment captured in a photo, you are not alone. You are loved. Always.

My Story My Roots
Photography by Julian Paugh
Julian was born and raised in Binghamton. His father is a musician; his mother is a multi-talented artist. Julian’s first exposure to photography was as a child, taking portraits of his family with his grandfather’s old Polaroid. As a teenager, he was gifted a point-and-shoot. Encouraged by friends and family, Julian began to seriously consider a future in photography. He met with his cousin – a fellow photographer – who inspired him to use his work as a lens into the mind of someone dealing with anxiety, depression, and autism. Julian studied communications at SUNY Broome.

Rich Harrington
On view: 6/14/25 – 10/19/25
The term Liminal Spaces represents periods of significant life change or transition. They can be associated with emotional states of ambiguity, uncertainty and the potential for growth or change. In his first solo exhibition at Roberson Museum, artist Rich Harrington creates metaphoric liminal spaces with his work in a variety of mediums harkening to the 1960s, the artist’s formative years.
Paintings, sculpture and assemblages have been placed throughout the entire Roberson campus, alluding to metaphoric liminal spaces created in the search for identity within the context of school, play, and pop culture.
