The U.S. Secret Service - Chicago Field Office was grateful for the invitation to participate in The Council of State Governments New Legislative Leaders Academy to discuss the rising threat of politically motivated violence. MetLife Stadium hosted the FIFA Club World Cup final yesterday. It was a tremendous protective operation with the President and First Lady of the United States in attendence, as well as other top government officials and several foreign leaders. The members of the U.S. Secret Service - New York Field Office traveled to New Jersey to assist their colleagues from the Newark Field Office and a variety of other U.S. Secret Service units in securing this event. Our local law enforcement partners also played a pivotal role, both at the stadium and during motorcade movements. Specials thanks to the New Jersey State Police, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Police and the New York City Police Department for all of their support. Secret Service personnel recently partnered with Federal, state and local law enforcement partners to conduct a two-day point-of-sale (POS) and ATM skimmer operation. During the operation, nearly 3,300 devices were inspected at 500 businesses, resulting in 4 skimmers being detected and saving Tennessee residents an estimated $4.2 million! The Secret Service Rowley Training Center recently received a newly decommissioned Marine One platform (VH-3D) that was used to fly every President in the last 50 years! The updated helicopter will improve training by providing special agents realistic, hands-on experience on an actual platform they will work in.
