NVIDIA’s pioneering work in visual computing — the art and science of computer graphics — has led to thousands of patented inventions, breakthrough technologies and a powerful brand. For two decades, we’ve advanced this uniquely powerful medium, helping to transform the PC from a tool for productivity into one for creativity and discovery, and further the mobile revolution.

At the core of our company is the GPU — the engine of modern visual computing — which we invented in 1999. One of the most complex processors ever built, our latest Kepler generation of GPUs boasts 7 billion transistors. The GPU has propelled computer graphics from a feature into an ever-expanding industry — encompassing video games, movie production, product design, medical diagnosis and scientific research, among other categories. GPUs are now driving new fields like computer vision, computational photography, image processing and augmented reality.

We target three major vertical markets: gaming; professional visualization and design; and high performance computing and big data analytics. We leverage innovations that we create for these markets by selling components and licensing IP to leading OEMs that wish to create devices differentiated by rich graphics.

THE WAY TO PLAY ON OPEN PLATFORMS

Gaming is our heritage. Today, NVIDIA gaming is at the center of the industry's open platforms — PC, Android and cloud. Our GeForce® platform of processors, software and services fosters the PC gaming market, the world's largest gaming segment, which is projected to reach $20 billion by 2016. The majority of PC gamers use GeForce. As computing extends beyond the PC, we're taking gaming with it. SHIELD, a gaming and entertainment portable, is a catalyst for the burgeoning Android gaming market, the fastest growing segment. NVIDIA GRID™, a breakthrough invention that delivers rich graphics through the cloud, will deliver a “Netflix of gaming.”

THE STANDARD FOR PROFESSIONAL VISUALIZATION

In the early 2000s, our invention of a programmable processor expanded NVIDIA's reach into professional graphics. Today, Quadro® is the industry standard for professional visualization — from mechanical and industrial design, to medical imaging, to digital content creation and film. Since 2010, every film nominated for the “Best Visual Effects” Academy Award was created on Quadro. Quadro powers 80% of the world's workstations and its suite of tools and algorithms is incorporated in nearly every major design tool in the world. As professional visualization moves to the cloud, NVIDIA GRID technologies serve the growing market for virtualized workstations as well as the growing need for mobile access to graphics assets.

ACCELERATING HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING & BIG DATA ANALYTICS

Scientists and researchers around the world use Tesla® GPUs to tackle the most complex challenges, such as modeling the human brain and finding a cure for HIV. We serve them with a robust platform of technologies, tools, libraries and experts at the intersection of computer architecture and algorithms. Our GPUs power many of the world's fastest supercomputers, including Titan at Oak Ridge National Labs. NVIDIA is also redefining general purpose computing by bringing the capabilities of GPUs into the data center. Servers from Cisco, Dell, HP, IBM and many others use NVIDIA GRID technology to virtualize enterprise PCs for mobile workforces. And GPUs are being tapped to solve the biggest problems in big data analytics. For example, the Shazam mobile app, which instantly identifies a song by “listening” to just a few notes, relies on Tesla GPUs to perform 10 million queries a day against a library of more than 27 million tracks.

POWERING A WORLD OF DEVICES

Visual computing is more important than ever, with consumer expectation for rich graphics rising amid a massive proliferation of mobile devices. The world's leading OEMs, from Apple to Audi, build well over a billion computing devices each year that incorporate GPUs and turn to NVIDIA for the best experience. Our Tegra® processors combine industry-leading CPU and GPU cores, 4G connectivity and software to serve the massive market created by Android. Android runs more than half of today's computing devices, and will sweep beyond phones and tablets through TVs, consumer electronics, car infotaintment systems and even PCs. Project Logan, our next-generation mobile processor, is poised to deliver a major discontinuity in mobile graphics and energy efficiency to this rapidly growing ecosystem.
