Application Experience at CA World 2013 Las Vegas

Ciscos Approach One Network with Unified ServicesLast month, Cisco announced ISR-AX. This new application delivery platform provides granular application visibility, control and optimization, integrated in a single box.  ISR-AX helps customers enhance end-user productivity, lower WAN bandwidth costs and simplify IT.

In discussing this new role of the router, application performance management becomes a key component.  ISR-AX and AVC (Application Visibility and Control) offers an open platform where we share the network intelligence gathered by Cisco routers with third party tools.  CA Technologies and Cisco have been working together towards supporting our mutual customers’ needs for Application and Network Performance Management (APM and NPM) and ensure that users get the highest quality of application experience from anywhere. IPv6 Just Works: Cisco Live London Dual-Stack Network

Another year, another CiscoLive. This was the last year in the London venue, and since it was the third time we did it, we had a chance to incorporate learning from the previous two years. As a result, I would say the network was quite a success.

The key element of the design, led by Mark McKillop, was the balance between showcasing the latest technology and maintaining the simplicity of the network. This year we had a mixed L2 + L3 core design. This design helped decrease the impact of various parts on each other. The L2 core was in place for the “special-case” requests, which a routing-based infrastructure could not help with. Read More »

Wired and WirelessActivate the IT Transformation with Cisco Unified Access” Webinar Series: Part II Network Deep Dive, April 17

Your network is going through rapid changes as your user and business requirements continue to evolve. Before long (if it’s not already happening), the edge of your network will more than likely transition to a high performing Gigabit desktop switching network plus a highly reliable Gigabit Wi-Fi (802.11ac) network. Cisco Converged Access is an innovative deployment mode that has been optimized to support both the Gigabit Ethernet based and the Gigabit Wi-Fi based edge as a single network with excellent scale, security, and performance.

Momentum is growing for the Cisco ISR-AX!

It has been a couple of weeks since its launch and we are seeing lots of interest in the Cisco ISR-AX!  I have been hearing from customers, partners and folks  worldwide about how they are using the new ISR-AX platforms now and get a router, VPN, firewall, intrusion prevention, cloud/web security, AVC (NBAR2, QoS, NetFlow, Media Monitoring, PfR) and WAN optimization (WAAS) all in one box for less than the cost of just an alternative WAN Optimization appliance.  For WAN optimization with WAAS that is less than $1 per WAN optimized connection with ISR-AX!

Anyway, I’ve gotten lots of questions since the launch, so I grouped them and wanted to share the top 4: Read More »

Wireless: More Than Just Internet Connection

DudeLookingatiPadBus feeling connected 200px biggertxt Wi-Fi is a convenience many expect to encounter whether they are at work, at home, or even out and about, say, shopping. Connecting to the internet from anywhere, at any time, is the norm these days, and for good reason. Smart devices are becoming more and more popular, and people are bringing these devices with them everywhere. So, how can the business world benefit from this? First, give the people what they want. Offer a robust wireless network so your customers are able to connect seamlessly. When you provide this, you are able, in turn, to engage with them. Read More »
