	Editorial
	Matt Carter, Group Manager. Matt Carter has been at Microsoft for four years. Prior to joining MSDN/TechNet, Matt was at Microsoft Learning, where he managed the portfolio management and product engagement team for Microsoft Press, Microsoft Certified Professional Program, Official Curriculum and e-learning. Before that, Matt created and managed various print and online products for developers and ITPros at Fawcette Technical Publications and DevX.com. Matt lives in Sammamish WA with his family. In his spare time, he likes to play tennis and bicycle, experiment in the kitchen, and try to broaden his knowledge of wines beyond California.
	Howard Dierking, Editor-in-Chief, joined Microsoft in 2006 as a product planner with the certification team at Microsoft Learning. There, he was responsible for creating the certification strategy for developers and working with Microsoft product groups and the community to oversee the creation of exams. Prior to joining Microsoft, Howard spent his career as a developer and later as an architect. His main technology passions include pretty much anything on language theory, agile development, and service-oriented architecture. When able to actually break away from the computer, Howard enjoys playing various percussive instruments, hiking, snowboarding, and doting on his wife and daughter.
	Joshua Trupin, Executive Editor, has written numerous technical articles for MSJ, Microsoft Internet Developer, MSDN Magazine, TechNet Magazine, and MSDN News, as well as appearing in interviews for MSDN TV, CodeProject.com and the SQL Server 10th Anniversary site. His long out-of-print book on the NBA, HoopStats: The Basketball Abstract, has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. He lives on Long Island with his wife Laura, children Julian and Cordelia, two beagles, and a basement full of CHUDs.
	Etya Novik, Managing Editor, began working at Microsoft in 1996 as a Production Assistant for MSJ and MIND, then moved into editorial two years later. Etya started her career in book publishing as an Editorial Assistant at Crown Publishers and then became a desktop publishing consultant. She enjoys bragging about her two daughters, doing yoga, and anything chocolate.
	Nancy Michell, Developmental Editor, spent nine years writing, editing and reporting for several New Jersey newspaper groups, including Forbes and The Princeton Packet. Nancy was previously the Web Producer for Microsoft Systems Journal and Microsoft Internet Developer. Her passions include technology, biology, and other things that rhyme.
	Terrence Dorsey, Developmental Editor, joined Microsoft in 1996 as an editor for MSJ and MIND. He moved to Redmond for a few years to be Senior Technical Editor on the Windows Media product team, returning to MSDN Magazine in 2005. Outside of the office, Terrence teaches at New York University and tries to find some spare time for dabbling in photography, motorsports, and collecting LPs.
	Matthew Graven, Editor, has contributed to a variety of publications, including Electronic Musician, ExtremeTech Magazine, and PC Magazine, and has appeared on a number of news programs. He joined MSDN Magazine and TechNet Magazine in July 2005. In his spare time, Matt records music and (slowly) writes fiction.
	Joan Levinson, Editor, started her career at Microsoft with MSJ in 1994. She loves having the opportunity to indulge her fascination with grammar and composition in the editing of content for MSDN Magazine and TechNet Magazine. Joan has a second fulltime career as an artist, making paintings that are exhibited in galleries in New York and other cities. She and her husband Mitchell Abidor live in the far reaches of Brooklyn, surrounded by thousands upon thousands of books.
	Debra Kelly, Associate Managing Editor, has been working as a writer and editor for almost a decade and was most recently employed as the Assistant Managing Editor for four financial services magazines. In the rare instances when she is not analyzing grammar and punctuation, Debra enjoys eating chips and salsa, and going to the beach.
	Sharon Terdeman, Editor, spent 18 years at PC Magazine, editing and learning about technology. She started at Microsoft in March, 2006, and is thrilled at the opportunity to learn more about how things work. When not editing, Sharon enjoys gardening and working on her old house.
	Joshua Hoffman, Contributing Editor, joined Microsoft in 2001 as an infrastructure consultant with Microsoft Consulting Services, where he advised large commercial, university, and government clients on server and desktop deployments. When he's not working on MSDN Magazine or TechNet Magazine, Joshua enjoys playing the guitar and piano, cooking, and squandering precious resources on new gadgets. He and his wife Jaclyn live in Manhattan.
	Art and Production
	Valerie Myers, Art and Production Director, has been the art and production director for MSDN Magazine and TechNet Magazine for several years, and was a consultant for Microsoft Systems Journal and Microsoft Internet Developer since their inceptions. In a previous life, she worked as an art director for magazines such as Junior Scholastic, PC Magazine and Home Video, and as a production director for companies such as Graphis, Inc. Her interests include her two fabulous daughters, astrology, and conspiracy theories.
	Mike Richter, Site Manager, has an MBA in Computer Information Systems from C.U.N.Y. Baruch College. He has been building websites for 10 years. For the past 7 years he has used Microsoft technologies and the .NET Framework to build web applications for publishing companies.
	Amy E. Filbin, Art and Production Manager, started her career at Microsoft in 1999 at the time when MSJ and MIND merged together to become MSDN Magazine. When she's not designing magazines, Amy directs the Murray Spalding Mandalas Dance Company and studies flamenco.
	Advertising Sales
	Jill Thiry, Publisher. Jill has worked in the publishing industry for over 15 years. As a Group Publisher she has worked in a number vertical markets, including technology (with time as the publisher of Network Computing, and now as publisher of MSDN Magazine), financial services, education, and supply chain management. She has also developed and managed products in a variety of publishing mediums including print and online vehicles, as well as live events. While Jill has spent much of her career with CMP Media, she has also worked with Advanstar Communications and Penton Media. She lives in Half Moon Bay, CA and enjoys hiking, skiing and reading magazines when weather, time and travel permit.
	David Timmons, Associate Publisher. Before working for MSDN Magazine as Regional Account Manager, David held the same position for MSJ. Prior to working in the developer market, he sold direct mail marketing in the Windows IT Manager and the broader Network IT Manager markets for Miller Freeman. Prior to working in advertising sales, David worked in commercial print sales. His hobbies include travel, reading, woodworking, and Middle Eastern archaeology.
	Michele Hurabiell, Strategic Accounts Manager, Michele grew up in San Francisco, CA and graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a BA in Art History. Michele’s tenure with CMP Media started with Microsoft Systems Journal. She worked with MSDN Magazine from the inception. When Michele is not reading MSDN Magazine she enjoys all things outdoors…including, running, hiking, snowboarding and with a new home in Austin, Texas she is having to quickly learn gardening and pool maintenance.
	Ed Day, Regional Manager - West/Central, graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in Industrial Education. In 1990, Ed took an advertising sales position with C/C++ Users Journal and Windows/DOS Developer's Journal and has been living in exile in Kansas ever since. After work, Ed can be found either at home working on the house and being a Dad to children Matthew and Amy, or chasing them around the woods and trails of Missouri and Kansas.
	Jon Hampson, Regional Manager - East & EMEA, is the master of vocational challenges and his tenure here is his biggest test yet. Prior to joining MSDN Magazine, Jon wrestled black bears in Maine and circled the globe by air more times than he cares to remember. Jon is an accomplished RC pilot and commands a virtual fighter squadron. He shares his mountaintop fortress of solitude with his wife and two children.
	Julie Thibault, Account Manager - All Regions, started with MSDN Magazine in June 2000 after working in health care for ten years. She lives in Peterborough, NH with her husband Paul and two children, Ryan and Samantha. Julie attended Franklin Pierce College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology (a prerequisite for working with Jon Hampson). When not at work, Julie enjoys reading, participating in community service activities, and her family.
	Michael Penne, Production Manager, was born in Omaha, NE. He likes listening to records (very loud), eating ribs and taking long walks with his dog Pagoda Kumar Fung Penne. Prior to Michael's work with MSDN Magazine, he was employed as a buyer for one of the largest distributor of beauty products in Benicia, CA, and a manager of a number of independent record stores in Omaha, NE. Michael now resides in San Francisco, CA with his wife, where you can often find him combing the aisles of Amoeba Music or in Golden Gate Park playing soccer with the San Francisco Chapter of Special Olympics.
	Marketing
	Gwen Clark, Marketing Manager, graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. degree in Journalism. After working for a short time as a copy editor for a small newspaper, she joined up with the circulation staff at CMP Media LLC, working on various tech titles. She joined the MSDN Magazine staff as the sales assistant in March 2005. A native of Colorado, Gwen enjoys visits to the mountains and skiing. While at home in Lawrence, KS, she spends free time gardening, walking and spending time with her husband Brian and two dogs Page and Missy.
	Circulation
	Kathy E. Henry, Director of Business Development, began her career in magazine publishing almost 20 years ago in San Francisco. She spent five years at Time Warner, where she worked at Parenting and later at Sunset. The rest of her career has been spent working on a variety of tech titles at CMP, where she was formerly a Group Circulation Director. She left that position in 2000, working solely on MSDN Magazine, to devote more time to her family. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and cavorting with her two young sons, Benjamin and James.
