  • Jewellery Show in Sharjah

  • The 18th Mideast Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah will show pieces from 25 countries until 15 April. Hong Kong-based Classic Jewellery will show off its famed 14k-18k gold and 925 sterling silver with diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones and opals. Purchasers of items valued at USD136 or more will have the chance to win one of 10 gold bars in a daily draw.

  • Get a 75% Better Life

  • Better Life is having a sale from 10-24 April and will offer discounts of up to 75% per cent from its Dubai warehouse on Zabeel road. The retailer is clearing consumer electronics, home appliances and personal care products. Better Life stocks international brands such as Siemens, Binatone, Terim, Admiral, Wolf, Scandinova, Starmix, Fisher and Paykel, Electrolux, and top Italian brand Zanussi.

  • Ibn Battuta Mall opens Wednesday

  • Nakheel's huge new Ibn Battuta Mall outside Dubai on the Sheikh Zayed highway will open on Wednesday. The ecclectic mixture of architectural styles representing the places that the celebrated Arab explorer visited centuries ago has been declared a hit by residents.

  • Al Madani, three Ibn Battuta stores

  • The Al Madani Group is to open three more stores in Dubai with the opening of the Ibn Battuta mall later this week, a new Levi's flagship store in the emirates, a Hang Ten store - designed using the new Hang Ten store concept, and Al Thawb Al Watani - the men's tailoring chain that was launched by Al Madani in 1992.

  • Dunkin Donuts adds 10 UAE outlets

  • Dunkin Donuts is expanding with 10 new outlets set to open in 2005, according to Gulf News. This will bring the chain up to 42 stores by the end of the year. The Sharjah based fast food company said year-on-year growth in 2004 was 40%, and the UAE market remained strong if competitive.

  • $27m Swiss Perfume expansion

  • Sharjah based Swiss Arabian Perfumes is to invest $27m in a chain of 70 outlets across the GCC. This will also involve the upgrading of existing stores and bring the total number up to 120. Officials said local Arab nationals and tourists were their two key customer bases.
