Experienced
Talent Leads Transportation Team at
Democratic National Convention
LOS ANGELES
"The devil is in the details when it comes to
transportation. We are proud to bring two event planning veterans
to oversee the intricate transportation details for our convention,"
said Lydia Camarillo, CEO for the 2000 Democratic National Convention
Committee (DNCC). "With the skills and experience of our
team, I have no doubt that transportation during the Democratic
Convention will be a smooth ride for conventioneers and L.A. commuters."
Brian L. Wickersham
will serve as Director of Transportation and Jeffery Lowery will
serve as Deputy Director of Transportation. They are nationally
recognized professionals in the field of event operations, planning
and transportation. Wickersham and Lowery have coordinated transportation
details for several national conventions, international political
events and special events worldwide. They join with DNCC Deputy
CEO and Director of Logistics, Lou Vasta and DNCC Deputy Director
of Logistics, Cameron Moody who have formulated logistical operations
for Democratic National Conventions, Presidential Inaugurals,
Super Bowls and Olympic games.
As DNCC Director
of Transportation Brian L. Wickersham will oversee the design
and strategy of the transportation plan for the DNCC. Wickersham
has seven years of experience as a special events coordinator,
with six years experience as special events manager. He has coordinated
transportation plans for the 1996 Democratic National Convention
in Chicago, the 1996 National GOTV Project for Reverend Jesse
Jackson, the 1997 Presidential Inaugural, the 1997 G7 Economic
Summit in Denver, the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York, and Super
Bowl XXXII in San Diego.
In his new
role as DNCC Deputy Director of Transportation, Jeffery Lowery
will help implement the transportation details drafted by the
DNCC and the City. Lowery's political event experience reaches
back to the 1988 Democratic Presidential Convention in Atlanta
where he served as a transportation coordinator and was responsible
for vehicle scheduling and routing. Lowery has also held Federal
and Statewide positions as an Advance Person for the late Commerce
Secretary Ron Brown where he coordinated logistical tactics for
domestic and international events. He most recently served as
an Advance Person for California Governor Gray Davis.
The DNCC is
working with local officials to formulate a detailed transportation
plan that includes mapping out primary routes and alternate routes
throughout Los Angeles, providing complimentary shuttles that
are fully accessible for people with disabilities, and coordinating
peak ingress and egress systems to ensure safe, effective and
timely transportation during convention week.
